Position Description:
AIG has an opening for a Trial Attorney in its Staff Counsel department.
The key responsibilities for this position are as follows:
Provide legal advice and representation to AIG and/or the insured in legal matters while minimizing legal and indemnity expense.
Examine contracts, policies, reports, evidence and other relevant data to determine advisability of proceeding with litigation.
Analyze probable outcomes through knowledge and research of legal precedents.
Develop and execute trial and/or pre-trial strategy for most cost effective outcome.
Draft legal papers, perform research, and handle project work for the office.
Provide timely responses to all inquiries for AIG Claims.
Negotiate settlements on behalf of the insured and/or AIG.
Attend hearings at Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission.
Position Requirements
Knowledge of handling worker' compensation cases in Illinois.
6+ years WC experience.
Must have a Juris Doctorate degree.
Illinois Bar Membership Required.
Excellent computer skills, including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word/Outlook.
Exceptional analytical, communication and presentation skills.
