Position Description:
Position Summary
As Senior Underwriter, your primary responsibility will be to produce and underwrite primary casualty lines of business for large construction accounts consistent with division guidelines and requirements.
Organizational Structure
The position will report to the Regional Underwriting Manager. There will be significant interaction with brokers, clients, and internal teams such as Sales & Marketing and Industry Practice Groups. Marketing territory is the Southeast
Performance Objectives & Requirements
•Analyze and price large construction accounts for Auto, General Liability, and Workers Compensation according to Division Guidelines.
•Market primary construction casualty products to insurance brokers (retail & wholesale) and existing or potential construction clients.
•Professionally maintain and service existing book of contractor business.
•Develop critical business relationships with brokers and clients.
•Participate in various underwriting and marketing initiatives to improve company results.
Position Requirements
•3-7 years of primary casualty underwriting experience for construction accounts.
•Technical skills should include ability to: identify and evaluate key exposures; evaluate proposed structure and attachments for acceptability and offer alternatives where appropriate; and, utilize guaranteed cost and loss sensitive pricing products.
•Excellent communication and organizational skills, combined with strong time management and self-starting skills to work in a dynamic, challenging, and fast paced environment.
•Candidates must be able to think and act strategically and possess excellent communication and relationship building skills.
•Strong interpersonal, presentation, and marketing skills.
•Relationship with significant construction brokers in the Southeast is preferred.
• Ability to understand client and corporate needs to expand business opportunities and further solidify and develop long term client relationships.
•Knowledge of AIG systems including DMS is preferred but not required.
